“empty spaces” Mara’s job has a new supervisor, they call him a “cleaner” because they bring him into clean house and reduce staff. The thing is he’s only firing the black and brown employees, which is sending Mara into a tailspin. As if that weren’t enough her strained relationship with her daughter, Jazmine, reaches a fever pitch as Jazmine disappears. Mara and her husband, Franklin face uncaring dismissal and obstacles from the media and law enforcement. How far can this woman be pushed? Just how close to the brink is she. “empty spaces” has received recognition from A.G.E. in the ARTS and was created through a residency with QUICK SILVER Theatre Company. Readings @ QuickSilver Theatre Company, KQ Playwrights, and Bag and Baggage Theater (Portland, OR), workshop at Lewis and Clark College (Portland, OR) “empty spaces” is a full-length play with nine actors. Four main characters and a five member ensemble that portray sixteen characters.

“The Good Old Days” is a full-length play about an extremely dysfunctional black family coming together for an obscure awards ceremony for their long dead patriarch. It borders on absurdist with broad humor. Ludora Brantley has called her three children back for this “highly esteemed” event of the city of Goldsboro, NC naming a street after her late husband, Stanford. However, as the grown children arrive, one from California, one from New York and the one who NEVER goes away (no matter how hard Ludora tries) lies, personal quirks and the hidden impact of choices are revealed. Readings at KQ Playwrights and Reneesance. This is a four character play, with a run time of approximately two hours (with an intermission)
